Delegate Replacement: After Jack Hill’s departure from GCSU, Greg Mahan will be taking his place on Staff Council.

President: Holidays/Vacations
President has the right to close the campus the day before a holiday but the time would need to be counted as vacation.
Received mixed feedback: What happens if someone has run out of time or if someone is new and does not yet have leave? Some people may not want to take a vacation day for various reasons.

Suggestion: Option for each department to decide to close. Not to fully close campus but to leave it open to the departments. Perhaps the president can say if the day off would be a hardship on anyone, they have the option to come to work.

Suggestion: Could it be a 1/2 day?

Recommendation is to not do it this year but further communication will occur with the president to offer some suggestions. Jen will discuss some of the suggestions with the President.

Parking Appeals: Staff Representative
Toi Franks represented Staff Council at the Parking Appeal Committee yesterday.
The meetings are once a month, every 3rd Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
Toi, Bevan, Janey, and Reese will all be in the rotation to serve on the Parking Appeals Committee. They can call on each other to cover if needed.

Town Hall Meetings
The Executive Committee is looking to establish a few town hall meetings in October.
During the meetings there will be discussions about staff council, suggestions for events, and any concerns staff council may be able to address.
There will be three separate opportunities to attend to accommodate as many schedules as possible. One meeting around the plant operations schedule and the others during the morning and another at lunch.

The main goal is to find out what GCSU staff need from their staff council.

Input from meeting attendees on topics to cover at the town hall meetings:
-       Budget, budget cuts that may affect staff
-       Ennis, plants break room-- needs renovating
-       Staff development funds (marketing it to campus)
-       Feedback forms
-       Ideas for morale-trying to get more people involved and interested in networking

Suggestion: Use index cards to write down questions and then compile, review and offer feedback (perhaps on our website).

Suggestion: Smaller: have 2-3 delegates set up in different locations around campus to gain more insight into what staff want.

Executive Committee will meet again and more information is to come.
